WHY SHOULD I PARTICIPATE IN THE MLK HOLIDAY PARADE?

1. You should participate if you understand and appreciate the sacrifice and contributions made by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and others.

2. You should participate if, you too, have a vision and desire that all Americans have an opportunity to pursue the “American Dream.”

3. You should participate if you have benefited from past and present efforts to guide us toward a freedom and justice for all society.

4. You should participate if you have a sense of obligation to help others understand, by your presence, that the King Holiday is important to Jacksonville, Florida, and to America.

You should participate in the MLK Holiday Parade and accompanying festivities because it is an appropriate and honorable response to our collective dreams of yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW PRIOR TO COMPLETING THE PARADE APPLICATION

	Your entry will not be accepted unless the form is completed in its entirety.
	We will disregard entries without names, telephone numbers, addresses, etc.
	Please do not complete this form if you are a vendor.
	Please do not complete this form if you do not intend to participate in the parade.
	Please complete the form as accurately as possible.
	Correct mailing/email address, and phone number is essential.
	Your entry MUST have a sign or banner.
	You cannot enter your business vehicle unless you have it decorated with a "MLK" banner of your own choosing
	Your display, poster, banner, etc., must not contain inflammatory statements, obscenities, or otherwise infringe upon the rights of others.
	No political banners or ads allowed without an accompanying MLK banner.
	A representative of your organization must attend a mandatory PARADE BRIEFING in order to participate in the parade.
	The PARADE BRIEFING will be held on Friday, January 11, 2008 (Location TBA).
